Change what you're aiming for. Your body details for the calorie estimate live under Profile → "Auto-adjust from my data."
Your daily calorie budget is not fixed — it adjusts each day based on how you've done earlier in the week.
Think of it like a weekly budget. Each morning, the app looks at what you've already eaten since Monday and divides the remaining weekly allowance equally across the days left — including today.
If you went over your goal on Monday and Tuesday, your budget for the rest of the week is a little smaller to compensate. If you were under, you have a bit of extra room. Either way, the math keeps your weekly total on track.
The number shown in the app is always the best target for today specifically — not just your average daily goal.
So where does that base goal come from? Two things: your weight and how active you are. Together those are your body's rough daily burn, and we take a little off it to keep you moving toward your goal weight.
And it keeps up with you. As your weight changes, your target eases with it: lose a bit and it dips down, gain a bit and it nudges up. A lighter body burns a little less, so this keeps your number honest instead of letting it go stale. We refresh it about once a week from your latest weigh-in, usually just 10 to 15 calories, so it moves in small, steady steps you'll barely feel.
The daily target shown in your profile is your base goal. The adjusted number you see on the Today tab is what matters day to day.
This snapshot is your whole week at a glance. The headline looks at how you've eaten so far and shows what it's adding up to by Sunday, so you always know if you're on pace without fussing over one off day.
Here's how it works. Your body burns roughly the same number of calories every day, just from being alive and moving around. Whether you lose or gain comes down to how your eating stacks up against that burn over time, not on any single day.
Here's the freeing part: it's the week that counts. Go a little overboard at dinner on Tuesday and it's genuinely fine. A couple of lighter days even it back out, and Tally does that math for you. Your daily number quietly adjusts to keep the week on track.
So what if you missed your goal for a day or two? You haven't lost a thing. Just eat a little lighter later in the week to even it out, and next week starts fresh.
One day never makes or breaks you. Staying close most of the week is what moves the scale.
When you first started, the app had to make an educated guess at how many calories your body burns each day. That guess was based on your height, weight, and activity level — but every person's metabolism is a little different, and those formulas can be off by hundreds of calories.
Now that you've been logging for four weeks, the app has something much better than a guess: your real data. By looking at what you actually ate and how much weight you actually changed, it can calculate how many calories your body truly burns on a typical day — your real daily burn rate. (The technical name for this is your TDEE, or Total Daily Energy Expenditure — but all it means is how much you actually burn.)
Tapping Update My Calorie Target swaps the original estimate for this real number. Your new calorie goal will be based on you, not a formula.
Great job logging consistently. This is exactly how it's supposed to work.
